The International Exhibition Hall has been equipped with all the functions, facilities and comforts needed to make it the core of the Tokyo International Convention Park ( Ariake South Area) which will provide the venue for facilitating communication between people an the exchange of goods and information through conventions.
。?CG Building (tentative name)
With the goal of growing into the world's leading information company, the Fuji Sankei Group consisting of the Fuji Television Network and Nippon Broadcasting Network, will open their respective FCC Head office Building in spring 1997. The building is easily recognizable by the huge ball suspended in the space between the two buildings. The 24th and 25th floors have been left as public space and will have restaurants and an observatory.
。?ublic Utility Conduits
To ensure the provision of a safe and stable utilities, the piping and wiring of the utilities in the Tokyo Waterfront Development area will traverse public utility conduits. The public conduits will contain gas, electricity, water supply, waste water reuse and sewerage systems, waste collection pipes, information communication cables, and air conditioning pipes. This public utility conduit is structured to withstand earthquakes equivalent to the Kanto Great Earthquake.
。?earea Odaiba
The Odaiba area is being developed to provide a futuristic, urban style housing area named the Sea Odaiba. The area is divided into the Searea 3rd avenue and Searea 5th Avenue. Housing is being developed jointly by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Housing Development Corp.. Tokyo Metropolitan Housing Supply Corp. and the Housing and Urban Development Corp.
。?lean Center
A sewage and waste treatment facility, named the Clean Center. has been constructed in the Ariake North Area to ensure that all waste is treated within the waterfront development area. Waste heat generated from the incinerator and the advanced treated water will be recycled for use in the local air-conditioning and waste water reuse system.
(4) Future Development Plans
For reasons that were previously mentioned, the Tokyo Waterfront Development project has been revamped, and the forecast of the working and residential population has been revised downward to 70, 000 ( + a ) and 40,000 ( + a respectively. Another change has been the introduction of an "urban development citizen's proposal system" and the designation of an area which will be developed in accordance with the present proposals. The (+ a ) in the population plan is equivalent to the increase in population that will result from development of this special area.
